Increasingly more health-conscious consumers, athletes, and gym-goers are showing interest in magnesium supplementation, as a growing body of research suggests that magnesium is often lacking in the Western diet, resulting in a population-wide magnesium deficiency.

Transparent Labs Magnesium Bisglycinate capsules provide 300 mg of highly bioavailable magnesium (as chelated magnesium bisglycinate) per serving to fill dietary magnesium gaps and support overall intake.

Unlike many magnesium forms (e.g., magnesium citrate and magnesium oxide), magnesium bisglycinate does not cause a laxative effect in large doses and is gentle on the gastrointestinal tract. This makes it ideal for ongoing use and maintaining adequate magnesium levels in the body.

why use Magnesium Bisglycinate?

Support muscle function, sleep, and relaxation with highly absorbable magnesium bisglycinate that’s gentle on digestion and backed by research.

Support Sleep Quality

Magnesium plays a key role in regulating neurotransmitters and the stress-response system (HPA axis), which can support relaxation and promote more restful sleep.

Support Sleep Quality

Assist Muscle Function and Recovery

Magnesium is an essential electrolyte for reducing cramps, supporting muscular relaxation, and aiding recovery.

Assist Muscle Function and Recovery

Promote Relaxation

Magnesium contributes to a sense of calm by modulating the nervous system and supporting the activity of calming neurotransmitters like GABA.

Promote Relaxation

Highly Bioavailable and Gentle on Digestion

Magnesium bisglycinate is a chelated form bound to the amino acid glycine, which enhances absorption and tends to be well-tolerated by the digestive system.

Key Ingredients

Our formulas are made with clean, natural ingredients, with clinically-validated dosages to support health and performance.

Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate

300 mg

Magnesium is a macromineral electrolyte and cofactor (read: "helping hand") in over 350 enzymatic reactions in the human body.

Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate

Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate

300 mg

One of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium is magnesium bisglycinate—a chelated form of magnesium where the mineral is bonded to glycine, an amino acid. This specific form is noted for its superior absorption and minimal gastrointestinal side effects compared to other forms, such as magnesium oxide [1].

The enhanced absorbability of magnesium bisglycinate can be attributed to glycine acting as a transport molecule, facilitating magnesium passage through the intestinal wall. As a result, a greater proportion of ingested magnesium is absorbed into the bloodstream, thereby increasing overall bioavailability.

Leg Cramps No More!

I’ve had leg and calf cramps for a long time and tried many things. Since learning about your magnesium bisglycinate I have been taking it (about 2 months) and am finally having restful sleep. I’ve even skipped taking it a few days just to test the leg cramps, which come back. I highly recommend this product. Finally relief!

Great Product

A friend of mine recommended a different brand of magnesium. I tried it for 2 weeks and could tell a difference between that brand and this one. I switched back. I've tried other brands and this one is best.

Just the right dosage

I take one capsule at night to prevent leg cramps and it works. Anything more than 100 mg causes intestinal distress. This is the only magnesium supplement I found which comes in this dosage.

Frequently Asked
Questions

How much magnesium do I need daily?

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for magnesium varies throughout the lifespan and between sexes. Adult males typically require more magnesium than adult females (400 mg per day vs. 310 mg per day, respectively), and pregnant/lactating women generally need more magnesium, upwards of 350 mg per day, than women who aren't carrying or nursing.

What Is elemental magnesium?

Elemental magnesium is the amount of magnesium itself in a magnesium supplement. It may or may not be the same as the dose listed next to the magnesium ingredient(s) in a supplement formula. For example, magnesium citrate — usually a 1:1 ratio of magnesium to citric acid — only provides about 11% elemental magnesium by mass.

What does magnesium bisglycinate do?

Magnesium bisglycinate provides magnesium in a chelated form, which enhances absorption and gastrointestinal tolerance. Magnesium itself is an essential mineral involved in hundreds of enzymatic reactions, including those regulating neuromuscular activity, energy metabolism, protein synthesis, and neurotransmitter function. The bisglycinate form is bound to glycine, an amino acid that may support relaxation and reduce the excitability of the nervous system. This combination makes it particularly useful for supporting sleep quality, muscle recovery, and stress resilience.

What time of day should I take magnesium bisglycinate?

Magnesium bisglycinate can be taken at any time of day, preferably with food to enhance absorption. However, due to its calming effects, many individuals find it beneficial to take it in the evening to promote relaxation and stress reduction (which can facilitate better sleep quality).
